Each year, approximately 20 business, professional and community leaders from the Knoxville area are nominated to join the group. They serve three-year terms and meet monthly to learn about and interact with the university.

“UT is an important part of Knoxville and much of our strength comes from those in our community taking an active interest in our development,” said Crabtree. “These associates meet monthly to hear from UT researchers and administrators to learn about the exciting projects we are involved in now and will be in the future. They play a vital role in sharing the university’s good news with the community.”

The 2006-07 chair of the group is Mintha Roach, president and CEO of Knoxville Utilities Board. The chair-elect is Tony Hollin, chairman and CEO of Edamerica and Edfinancial.
