KNOXVILLE — The three retiring members of the Tennessee Supreme Court will participate in a symposium at the University of Tennessee College of Law on Monday, April 10. The symposium is sponsored by the Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy and is entitled “The Tennessee Supreme Court’s Impact on Law & Policy: Celebrating the Legacies of Justices Anderson, Birch, and Drowota.”
The program begins at 1:15 p.m. in Room 132 of the College of Law, 1505 Cumberland Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.
Justices E. Riley Anderson, Adolpho A. Birch, Jr. and Frank Drowota will be among those discussing the development of law and policy in Tennessee. Drowota retired from the court in September 2005 and Anderson and Birch are retiring Aug. 31.
Speakers from across the state will address the court’s role in enhancing professionalism and providing access to the courts as well as the development of the law of comparative fault.
A reception, also free and open to the public, in honor of Justices Anderson, Birch, and Drowota will follow the symposium at 4:45 p.m. in the College of Law Rotunda.
The Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy is a student-produced publication produced quarterly that explores issues at the intersection of law and public policy.
