KNOXVILLE — Feel like studying in Hawaii, Taiwan, Singapore and other exotic ports of call?

The Summer 2006 Semester at Sea program — in which students live and study aboard ship for two months, and also visit a variety of ports — is offering five $5,000 scholarships to University of Tennessee undergraduates to be applied to the Summer 2006 voyage.

The academic voyage leaves San Diego on June 17 and will visit Hawaii, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan. The trip concludes in San Diego on Aug. 21.

Semester at Sea is administered by the Institute for Shipboard Education. Students earn academic credit.

UT students may apply for the Summer 2006 Semester at Sea program through April 7. That represents a three-week extension to the deadline posted on the group’s website.

Scholarship selection will begin April 10 at UT from among the completed on-line applications.

Information about the voyage, course offerings, itinerary and on-line application can be found at: www.semesteratsea.com/voyages/summer2006/index.html
