UT Celebrates Constitution Day Sept. 16

KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee College of Law, the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy and UT Libraries will host a series of events on Constitution Day, Sept. 16.

The U.S. Constitution, ratified more than 200 years ago, influences our lives every day, yet many Americans are unaware of its impact on our lives and American history.

Two videoconferences are scheduled for Friday:

Noon & 3 p.m. (two showings) — Conversations with Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Stephen Breyer. The justices talk with high school students about the Constitution.

1:30-2:30 p.m. — Debating Free Speech in the Digital Age. NPR’s Margot Adler hosts a Justice Talking special on censorship in libraries, textbooks and on the Internet.

These videoconferences can be viewed in Room 135 of the UT Law School and Room 213 of Hodges Library.
