KNOXVILLE — J. Harrison Livingston, Knoxville business leader, University of Tennessee alumnus, supporter, and philanthropist, has passed away at age 92.

A longtime philanthropist, he donated the initial $250,000 to help create the Tennessee Geography Education Fund to improve geography teaching in elementary and secondary schools. National Geographic magazine matched Livingston-s gift.

He also created the J. Harrison and Robbie C. Livingston Professorship of Population and Immigration Control at UT, having served as president of Planned Parenthood at the local and state levels in Tennessee.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Robbie C. Livingston; his son Jay Harrison Livingston and daughter-in-law Carla Bonham Livingston; and his daughter Ann Livingston Huie and son-in-law Joseph Headden Huie. All are from Knoxville, as well as four grandchildren and three nieces.
