The University of Tennessee College of Law will host a minority law school admission workshop from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, at the UT College of Law, 1505 W. Cumberland Ave.

The workshop will inform members of minority groups about the law school admission process. It is designed for college graduates, college students, college-bound high school students, pre-law and minority affairs advisors, high school guidance counselors and principals from across East Tennessee.

“The UT College of Law has seen minority enrollment increase steadily since the mid 1990s,” said Dr. Karen Britton, College of Law director of admissions and career services. “These joint outreach efforts are part of that success.”

Workshop sessions will focus on steps in the law school admission process, how to finance a legal education, and preparation for law school as an undergraduate.

A panel of current minority law students and local minority attorneys will discuss their law school experiences and careers in law.

The workshop is part of National Minority Law Recruitment Month and is sponsored by the Law School Admission Council, the College of Law, the Arts and Sciences Advising Services and the Knoxville Bar Association.

Participation is free, but those interested are requested to pre-register by calling the UT College of Law Admissions Office at (865)974-4131.

Free parking for participants will be available in the University Center Garage on Phillip Fulmer Way across from the College of Law.
