Football Fans, Alumni Welcomed to UT Homecoming

KNOXVILLE — Football fans coming to campus for this Saturday’s Homecoming game between the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech University will notice the large numbers of Tennessee alumni on campus.

Game time is 7 p.m., and gates will open at 5 p.m.

“Homecoming is always a special time for UT alumni, faculty, staff and students,” Philip Scheurer, vice president for operations, said. “The university extends a warm welcome to all.”

Normal security measures for Neyland Stadium will be in place Saturday, Scheurer said.

Large parcels such as backpacks will not be permitted inside the stadium. Items that are not allowed inside cannot be stored or left at the gate. Cell phones, small radios, seat cushions (without arms) and infant diaper bags accompanied by an infant are allowed, Scheurer said.

All bags are subject to search.

The traditional Vol Walk starts at 4:45 p.m. from Gibbs Hall to the stadium. The Pride of the Southland marching band leaves the music building at 5:20 p.m. to march to the stadium.

Fulmer Way from Middle Drive to Tee Martin Drive, Peyton Manning Pass, Middle and Lower drives and Estabrook Drive will be closed 30 minutes before kickoff. Directional parking will be used in Area 9 and Lot 5.

Public parking with shuttle service is available at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum parking garage. The Knoxville Area Transit Authority is providing shuttle service from Farragut High School in west Knoxville.

Comcast will televise the game on pay-per-view.
