“Back where we began” is the theme for University of Tennessee Knoxville alumni returning to campus for Homecoming, Sept. 24-25.

Three of the highlighted events include a class reunion banquet, a concert featuring the Cumberland Trio, and Party in the Park.

On Friday, members of the classes of 1954, 1959, decade of the 60s and 1974 will attend the class reunion banquet, 5:30 p.m. (social), 6-7:30 p.m. (dinner) Friday, at the University Club, Kingston Pike and Neyland Drive. Admission is $20 per person.

At 8 p.m., the Cumberland Trio will reunite for a concert at the Bijou Theatre, 803 South Gay St. Admission to the concert is $12.50 per person, with the proceeds benefiting the UT School of Music. A post-concert reception will be held at the Riverview Room of the Knoxville Marriott, 500 Hill Ave.

Saturday’s festivities include the Tennessee Alumni Association’s Party in the Park, which begins at 3 p.m. and ends one hour before kickoff of the UT-Louisiana Tech football game. Tailgate-style food will be provided by Buddy’s Bar-B-Q. Cost to eat is $15 per person.

Entertainment includes the UT cheerleaders, UT Pep Band and Smokey the UT mascot. The academic showcase, which features many UT academic departments, will be on display.

Event sponsors include Buddy’s Bar-B-Q, Coca-Cola of Knoxville, All Seasons Travel and Chattanooga Bakery, makers of the Moon Pie.
