KNOXVILLE — Six-time Grammy Award winner Arthel “Doc” Watson will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in the University of Tennessee’s Alumni Memorial Auditorium.

The UT Cultural Attractions Committee sponsors the event.

“Doc Watson is a living legend in the world of acoustic music,” said Ron Laffitte, director of student activities. “We are lucky to have a performer on campus who is one of the most renowned and influential folk guitar artists in the world.”

Watson is accomplished both as a flat-picker and as a fingerstyle guitarist. He was awarded the National Medal of the Arts from President Clinton in 1997 and was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Fame in 2000.

Concert admission is $5 for students, $20 for faculty and staff and $25 for general admission. Tickets may be purchased from Tickets Unlimited or the UT Central Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the University Center.
