KNOXVILLE — The Krasnoyarsk National Dance Company of Siberia will perform at 8 p.m. Wed., Oct. 8, in the Bijou Theater.

The University of Tennessee’s Cultural Attractions Committee sponsors the event.

“Our students get to experience the beautiful land of Siberia and the treasures of Russian folk art through the dance and music of this group,” said Ron Laffitte, director of student activities.

Dancing to live Siberian music, the performers create vivid character portrayals and fanciful choreographic design.

Siberian dancing requires the athleticism to perform intricate movements in a squatting position followed by hands-free aerials at high speeds with effortless grace.

Concert admission is $5 for students, $20 for faculty and staff, and $25 for general admission. Tickets may be purchased from Tickets Unlimited or the UT Central Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the University Center.
