KNOXVILLE — Parents whose second and third graders have reading problems will find help for their children in a three-week program this summer at the University of Tennessee Hearing and Speech Center.
The Summer Reading and Writing Program will be offered 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, June 9-27, 2003, at the Hearing and Speech Center, 1600 Peyton Manning Pass on the UT campus.
The fee per child is $600 and includes oral and written diagnostic tests prior to the program. Graduate student clinicians and certified clinical supervisors will guide the individual children and small groups in activities designed to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, and understanding of story structure.
Progress reports will be provided at the end of the three-week session and children will have the opportunity to continue the program in the fall.
