KNOXVILLE – Tighter security procedures and increased attendance at Thompson-Boling Arena have resulted in earlier gate opening times for University of Tennessee men’s basketball games.

Opening times for the remaining three men’s home games will be an hour and a half before tip off. The gates will continue to open one hour before tip off at the final two Lady Vols home games.

“The early gate opening for the Florida game worked well,” Jeff Maples, University of Tennessee assistant vice president of operations, said. “We will continue this for the rest of the home season.”

The schedule for men’s games for the remainder of the season:

· Alabama, Feb. 22 – Gates open at 12:30 p.m., Tip Off at 2:00 p.m.

· LSU, March 1 – Gates open at 5:30 p.m., Tip Off at 7:00 p.m.

· Mississippi State, March 5 – Gates open at 6:00 p.m., Tip Off at 7:30 p.m.

Large bags, backpacks and other large parcels are prohibited in Thompson-Boling arena. Headset radios, cell phones, pagers and diaper bags accompanying an infant are permitted. Items not allowed inside the arena cannot be left at the gates or in the concourse.
