KNOXVILLE – UT officials are urging fans of the Tennessee Vols and Miami Hurricanes to arrive early for Saturday afternoon-s game.

Kickoff for the CBS-televised game is 3:30 p.m. ET. The team’s Vol Walk to the stadium is set for 1:15 p.m., and the band will march to the stadium at 1:50 p.m.

Philip Scheurer, UT vice president for operations, said it is important for fans to arrive at stadium gates early so they can clear security and be in their seats for the opening kickoff.

“The crowd for the Miami game is one of the largest of the season, and security personnel will need extra time to check purses and other items that are permitted in the stadium,” Scheurer said.

Backpacks, other large parcels and umbrellas are not permitted inside the stadium, and they cannot be stored or left at stadium gates.

Stadium seats without arms, cushions, binoculars, small cameras, pagers, cell phones, radio headsets and diaper bags that accompany an infant are permitted. Small stadium blankets also are permitted.

All items, including purses, are subject to being searched, Scheurer said.

Traffic and parking procedures will be the same as in previous home games.

Phillip Fulmer Way from Middle Drive to Tee Martin Drive, Peyton Manning Pass, Middle and Lower drives and Estabrook Drive will be closed 30 minutes before kickoff. These streets will not reopen until after the game is over.

Directional parking will be used in Area 9 and lots 1, 2, 4, 5A and 5B, Scheurer said. Solicitation along Phillip Fulmer Way is prohibited.

Scheurer and Athletic Director Doug Dickey also are appealing to fans to be on their best behavior Saturday.

“We want fans from both schools to support their team enthusiastically,” Scheurer said. “At the same time, we expect them to demonstrate good sportsmanship outside and inside the stadium.”
