KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee Acting President Emerson H. Fly has been named Executive of the Year by the Volunteer Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Fly was honored recently at the annual PRSA Awards ceremony at Knoxville’s Club LeConte.
The award recognizes an area chief executive officer or employer who has shown exceptional support of the public relations profession in East Tennessee.

“I-m honored to have received this award, and I-m grateful to the students, faculty, alumni and staff,” Fly said. “It-s been a great year.”

The UT Board of Trustees appointed Fly as acting president last June after the resignation of President J. Wade Gilley.

Fly will continue as acting president until July. He has more than 40 years experience as a university business and finance officer, having previously served as UT’s executive vice president and vice president for business and finance.
