NASHVILLE — The 25-member Advisory Council to the University of Tennessee Presidential Search Committee has announced its five semi-finalists for the position. They are:
Dr. Guy Bailey, Interim Provost and Vice President at the University of Texas-San Antonio; Dr. Stephen Lehmkuhle Vice President of Academic Affairs, University of Missouri; Dr. Stanley R. Liberty, Provost and Vice President at Bradley University; Dr. C. Warren Neel, state Commissioner of Finance and Administration and former UT business dean; and Dr. Marlene I. Strathe, provost and Vice President at the University of Northern Colorado.
Dr. Carolyn Hodges, who heads UT’s foreign languages department and chairs the Advisory Council, says the five selections are the result of an objective, inclusive search.
“Since the beginning of this process, our main objective has been to conduct an inclusive search with proven methodology that provides objectivity in the recruitment and screening of candidates. I am very pleased with the groundwork laid for the recruitment of candidates this fall and the progress reported through the completion of this screening phase.
“I am appreciative of the dedication and commitment of the Advisory Council members in carrying out their work in a diligent and credible manner. I look forward to a progressive and successful search resulting in a new leader, not only for the University of Tennessee, but for our state as well.”
The council’s five candidates will be consolidated in January with those recruited by Korn Ferry International search firm. The finalists will be screened by the Search Committee of the UT’s Board of Trustees.
