Knoxville — The University of Tennessee is getting a new electronic front door.

The Web page that opens to the many facets of UT has been redone to make it more informative and easier to use for the general public. The redesigned site goes online Oct. 3.

The new look is the first fruit of UT’s new Web Services Department, which was created to provide technical assistance in the development of all the university’s non-instructional Web sites, said Brice Bible, assistant vice president for research and information technology.

“We want every UT Web presence to have consistency in design, navigation and usefulness,” Bible said. “This department is an important first step toward that goal.”

The redesigned site will include current news, links to UT’s four campuses and three institutes, and information for prospective students, alumni and others. To visit it, go to www.tennessee.edu on Wednesday.
