KNOXVILLE — The first candidate seeking to be the University of Tennessee’s chief academic officer will be on campus Monday, Jan. 29.
Dr. Loren W. Crabtree, provost and academic vice president at Colorado State University, will participate in an open forum with students, faculty and staff scheduled for 2 p.m. in the University Center Auditorium.
Other candidates for UT’s provost and vice president for academic affairs will be on campus during February, UT President J. Wade Gilley said.
The individual nominated by Gilley and approved by UT’s Board of Trustees will succeed Dr. John Peters, now president of Northern Illinois University.
Crabtree, a historian, has held the top academic job at Colorado State since 1997. He previously was on the faculty and was dean of CSU’s College of Liberal Arts before being named provost.
He earned the doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Minnesota.
Colorado State, located in Fort Collins, has 23,000 students.
