KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee Admissions Department has rescheduled its special day to help UT employees learn more about enrolling their children in college.

UT’s “Just For You Day” has been moved to 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nov. 4, in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 320 Student Services Building.

Admissions Director Marshall Rose said the program invites UT employees and their children in high school to talk to admissions counselors about college applications, researching schools, financial aid and other aspects of enrollment.

For students who already have applied at UT, the day is a good opportunity to learn more about degree programs and extra-curricular activities, Rose said.

Benefits for UT employees and their dependents — such as a 50 percent employee tuition discount — also will be discussed. Campus tours will be conducted hourly from 10 a.m. to noon.

“This is an excellent opportunity for UT employees to learn about what UT has to offer and find out if UT is a good match for their child,” Rose said.

UT’s early acceptance application deadline is Nov. 1. The regular admissions deadline is Jan. 15. The deadline for students to confirm admission is May 1, after which those on a waiting list will be admitted on a space-available basis.

Rose said “Just for You Day” could help prospective students see UT from a different perspective.

“(Some UT employees’ children) have looked at UT as the place where mom and dad works, but not always as the place they might go to college,” Rose said.

“Often, local kids think they are familiar with UT because it is so close, but they really have not looked inside to see the academics, extra-curricular activities, and student life UT has to offer over other institutions.”
