UT Programs Listed in Latest Magazine Rankings

Six University of Tennessee programs are listed in the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of graduate education programs.

The colleges of education and law are programs in the nation’s top 50. UT’s human resource development ranked 10th in the vocational education category.

Audiology is 25th, social work 29th and the nursing program at the Health Science Center in Memphis 52nd.

UT President J. Wade Gilley said the university and the state deserves to have more programs in the rankings.

“We are happy for this recognition,” Gilley said, “but we need to move these up and have several more colleges and departments on the list if we are going to become a top 25 public research university.

“We can and will do it with better state funding.”

The UT College of Education is up four places from last year’s 46th position. Law held at 47th place.

The news magazine’s annual rankings, available on newsstands next week, are based on reputation, student selectivity and faculty research.
