KNOXVILLE — A team of University of Tennessee MBA students is among the top finishers in a recent international competition.

UT placed third out of 30 teams in the International MBA Case Competition at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Sarah Gardial, dean of the UT MBA program, said the third-place finish is almost like winning.

“I’ve coached teams for many years, and one thing I can truthfully say is that if you finish in a top-three position, you’ve won,” Gardial said. “From there, the judges are splitting hairs.”

Team members are Stacy Eiselstein, Tim Morris, Leslie Goff, Mark Moran, and alternate Petia Iordanova. Dell Computers sponsored the team.

The UT MBA program has a tradition of excellence at the Concordia University International Case Competition, with three top-three finishes in only five years competing.

“Our MBA students rose to the occasion to firmly establish UT as a perennial contender at this competition,” said team Coach Eddie Armbrister, an instructor in marketing, logistics and transportation at UT.
