Knoxville — Dr. Don O. Richardson is retiring from his position as dean of the Agricultural Experiment Station, effective February 29, 2000.

Richardson has headed the Experiment Station since 1988 and has been with the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture for 37 years. He is the 11th leader of the Experiment Station in its 118-year history.

Richardson came to the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources in 1963; he began as a researcher and teacher in the field of dairy cattle breeding and management.

In 1974, Richardson was appointed as professor of animal science. And, in 1982, Richardson was named the head of the Animal Science Department.

As dean of the Agricultural Experiment Station, Richardson had the opportunity to coordinate and be a part of the research and teaching programs at the Experiment Stations throughout the state and in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

Richardson has been honored with the Gamma Sigma Delta Merit Award for Teaching and has been named as a member of the Distinguished Alumni by Ohio State University.
