An open house will be held at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine on April 7, 2000 and April 8, 2000 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. In conjunction with this year’s annual open house, the university’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources will also hold an open house, featuring exhibits and special events. Both open houses will take place on the UT agricultural campus, located on Neyland Drive.

Veterinary college events will take place in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, while agriculture college events will take place in the agricultural engineering building, the Ellington plant sciences building and Brehm animal science building.

Special veterinary attractions include various breeds of horses and dogs, wildlife animals, petting zoo and carriage rides. Activities include tours of the veterinary building, demonstrations and exhibits related to veterinary medicine and information for those interested in a career in veterinary medicine. An advisor will be available to discuss curriculum and pre-veterinary requirements.

Agriculture college events will include wool spinning demonstration, baby chickens being hatched, garden display, composting and soil erosion demonstrations, display of owls and hawks and other activities.

The veterinary open house is held each year to better acquaint the public with veterinary medicine and services provided at the College of Veterinary Medicine, which was established in 1974. For additional information call 974-5869.
