KNOXVILLE–Five hundred high school math students from 50 high schools across the state will gather here Thursday for the inaugural Tennessee Math Contest.

Ten students with the highest individual scores on the tests will receive four-year tuition scholarships to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Winners in the team competition will be awarded trophies. The UT-Knoxville Mathematics Department is the sponsor.

Finals of the Math Bowl competition are scheduled to begin at 3:20 p.m. in Clarence Brown Theater. Dr. Bill Snyder, chancellor of UT-Knoxville, will award the 10 scholarships following the Math Bowl finals, at approximately 4 p.m.
