KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — An exploration of East Tennessee’s architectural past will lead off the University of Tennessee Pregame Showcase Saturday, Sept. 4.

Dr. Charles Faulkner, professor of anthropology, will discuss his archaeological research in a talk titled “From Log Cabins to Victorian Mansions: An Illustrated Tour of East Tennessee’s Historic Architecture.”

The presentation, scheduled for 5 p.m. in 235 University Center, is part of the annual lecture series sponsored by the UT-Knoxville College of Arts and Sciences, the athletic department and the alumni affairs office. The Athletic Department also provides a door prize.

Future pregame lectures include: “Y2K + U = YUKK,” Dr. Jesse Poore, computer science; “The Banner Yet Waves- Saving ‘Old Glory,'” Dr. William E. Blass, physics; “The Plantation South,” Dr. Charles Aiken, geography.

“World War II: The Good War?” Dr. Kurt Piehler, history; “Our Left-handed Universe,” Dr. Robert Compton, chemistry; and “Tennessee’s Weirdest Fishes,” Dr. David Etnier, ecology and evolutionary biology.

There is no admission charge for the lectures, which are scheduled two hours before kickoff for each home game. Pre-registration is not required. Sandwiches can be purchased at the Rocky Top Cafe or Smokey’s Grill. Complimentary desserts and beverages are provided.
