OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee-Battelle team bidding to manage Oak Ridge National Laboratory has opened a public information office here, UT-Battelle officials announced Friday.

UT Senior Vice President Homer Fisher said the office provides information on UT-Battelle’s interests, capabilities, and goals such as completing the Spallation Neutron Source, broadening ORNL’s scientific research, and improving U.S. scientific and business community access to ORNL resources.

Oak Ridge-area residents Bill Pardue and Karen Garrett staff the office, located at 40 New York Ave. The public is invited to visit and receive free materials about UT-Battelle.

UT-Battelle announced in January its intention to seek the ORNL contract. Other team members include Oak Ridge Associated Universities, Georgia Tech, Duke, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, the University of Virginia, and Duke Engineering and Services. Additional members and subcontractors may be added soon.

The telephone number for the new public information office is 423-220-5101. The UT-Battelle web page is at www.UT-Battelle.com.
