Joint statement from Dr. Joe Johnson, president of the University of Tennessee, and Doug Olesen, president of Battelle, on President Clinton’s budget recommendation for the Spallation Neutron Source:

“The Clinton Administration’s recommendation of $214 million for the Spallation Neutron Source is good news for Oak Ridge and the nation. We hope Congress will fully fund the recommendation so important advancements in material sciences can move forward.

“Construction and development of the SNS would be one of our highest priorities if we are selected to operate the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.”
