KNOXVILLE, Tenn.– A top executive at one of the state’s largest public relations firm has been honored as a distinguished alumnus of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s College of Communications.

Gill Duff of Dye Van Mol & Lawrence Public Relations in Nashville is recipient of the college’s 1998 Donald G. Hileman Distinguished Alumni Award.

Duff is a Nashville native and 1983 UT-Knoxville advertising graduate.

He was senior vice president at Young & Rubicam of New York City, one of the world’s leading advertising agencies, before being named executive vice president and managing director of advertising at Dye Van Mol & Lawrence in May.

Duff was featured speaker in September at the college’s PR Day, a conference of PR professionals, faculty and students that celebrated the 25th year of the local chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

The Hileman award, named for the college’s former dean, will be presented to Duff Nov. 7 at the college’s alumni homecoming picnic.
