KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dr. Peter S. Onuf, scholar of American regionalism and the early republic in the United States, will lecture Nov. 2 at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

The free lecture is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Hodges Library Auditorium, followed by a reception. For reservations call 423-974-5421.

Onuf, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Professor at the University of Virginia, is the fifth speaker in the annual Milton M. Klein Lecture Series at UT-Knoxville.

Onuf holds bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from Johns Hopkins University. He has taught at Columbia University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Southern Methodist University before arriving at UVA in 1989.

Klein served on the faculty of UT-Knoxville as Alumni Distinguished Service Professor of History until his retirement in 1984. In 1988 he was named UT-Knoxville’s first University Historian.

The lecture is funded by the Milton M. Klein Studies Endowment, which was established in 1993 to support a visiting scholar series and seminars in the fields of early American history, American legal history, and historiography.
