KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dr. James Moran will succeed Dr. Jaquelyn DeJonge as dean of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s College of Human Ecology.

The appointment is effective July 1, Dr. John Peters, UT-Knoxville vice chancellor for academic affairs, said Thursday. Moran currently is the associate dean.

DeJonge will return to the college’s faculty.

“Jim Moran is nationally recognized for his work in human ecology,” Peters said. “In appointing Dr. Moran, we are recognizing the exceptional leadership that exists in the college.”

Moran, who came to UT as associate dean, earned the bachelor’s degree from Duke University. His graduate degrees are from the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, where he held faculty appointments. He was also on the faculty at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
