KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Graduating seniors at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville will take up the “Torch of Service” in a public ceremony April 29 in Neyland Stadium.

“Aiei Proso” is the Greek name given the annual ceremony. The words translate to “Always Forward.” Seniors are scheduled to meet at 7:15 p.m. in front of the Volunteer Statue on the Vic Davis Plaza to form a procession into the stadium.

Others are asked to enter the stadium through gate 17 to be seated for the ceremony beginning at 8 p.m. In case of rain, the event will move next door into the Alumni Memorial Building.

For the “Torch of Service,” the seniors will exchange the “Torch of Preparation” they received as freshmen. The “Torch of Service” symbolizes the flame that keeps UT-Knoxville and its teachings in the hearts of students when they leave.
