KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Deliberative polling, first described in the “Atlantic Monthly” in 1988, will be the topic of a guest lecture April 23 at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Dr. James Fishkin, University of Texas political science professor, will lecture at 3 p.m. in 60 Humanities and Social Sciences Bldg. A reception will follow.

The author of two books about deliberative polling, “Democracy and Deliberation” and “Voice of the People,” Fishkin received the doctoral degree in political science from Yale University and a second doctoral degree in philosophy from Cambridge University.

The lecture is supported by the College of Arts and Sciences’ program for community outreach and public service.
