KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Three University of Tennessee-Knoxville students have been awarded scholarships from the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation.
The recipients are:
— Theodore Allen Corcovilos of Maryville, a senior College Scholar majoring in physics and math.
— Samantha S.B. Hopkins of Oak Ridge, a senior majoring in biology and geology.
— Surya P.N. Singh of Knoxville, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering with a biomedical concentration.
The UT-Knoxville students were among 316 scholarship recipients selected from 1,186 nominees at 530 schools.
The awards provide $7,500 per year for tuition, fees, books and housing. They are presented to students for outstanding academic achievement in math, science and engineering.
The Goldwater Foundation was founded in 1986 in honor of the late Sen. Barry M. Goldwater.
