KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A course for genealogists covering the basics of family and local history research is open for enrollment at the University of Tennessee’s Hodges Library.

 Starting Feb. 24, the course is scheduled 7 to 9 p.m. for six consecutive Tuesdays in the library auditorium. Cost is $75, with an optional $15 materials fee payable to the instructor. Registration deadline is Feb. 17.

 “Roots” researchers may also sign-up for one of three workshops that the School of Information Science is offering in a series called “Genealogy and the Internet.” The workshop schedule:

 — “Web Basics for Genealogists,” 7 to 10 p.m., March 11, $30.

 — “Genealogical Sources on the Internet,” 7 to 9 p.m., March 16,18, and 23 (three sessions), $90.

 — “Creating a Genealogical Web Page,” 7 to 10 p.m., March 25, $40.

 Registration deadline is one week before each workshop.
