KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Ben Matteson of Knoxville, a 1996 graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, has been selected for a Fulbright award for graduate study in Poland next year.

Matteson, who majored in architecture at UT-Knoxville, also attended Karns High School where he became a National Merit Scholar. At UT-Knoxville Matteson was a Tennessee Scholar in the University Honors Program.

As a fourth-year architecture student, Matteson studied in Krakow, Poland. His senior project was about urban design issues in Krakow, an interest he plans to pursue with the Fulbright award.

Funded by the U.S. Congress, the award honors J. William Fulbright, the former senator from Arkansas, who was chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
