KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A strong job market for December graduates of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville reaches beyond the majors usually in high demand, a UT placement officer said Tuesday.
“There are a lot of jobs this year that aren’t specific to any major,” said Dr. Bob Greenberg, director of career services at UT-Knoxville. “The market is strong enough that a lot of students will have opportunities if they seek them out.”
Greenberg said graduates in computer science and computer engineering are in especially high demand. Prospects also are very good for logistics and transportation, accounting, and retail management majors.
Looking at the market for May graduates, Greenberg said job prospects should remain strong.
“Unless the economy falls apart, the job market for May graduates should continue strong,” Greenberg said. “Scheduled recruiting visits are up 10 to 20 percent over last year, which also was a good year.”
