UT-Knoxville Top Graduates Announced (280)

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Thirteen students have been identified as top graduates of their respective colleges for fall commencement exercises Dec. 20 at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

 Top graduates have the highest grade point averages (GPA) in their respective colleges. The minimum GPA to be a top grad is a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

 By college, the top graduate, major, parents and hometown include:

 Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources — Leah C. Gardner, ornamental horticulture and landscape design, daughter of Dean and Margaret Gardner, Johnson City.

 Arts and Sciences, humanities — Mandy Lynn Gall, Spanish, daughter of Ron and Phyllis Gall, Old Hickory.

 Arts and Sciences, natural sciences — Matthew Maston Jones, geology, son of Michael and Cynthia Jones, Arab, Ala.

 Arts and Sciences, social sciences — Vicki J. Underwood, psychology, daughter of Barbara and Harold Underwood, Knoxville.

 Business Administration — Patricia J. Cable, logistics and transportation, daughter of Ruth Caldwell, Alcoa. Communications — Donna Hart Mauldin, broadcasting, daughter of Sam and Sharon Hart, Loudon.

 Education — Pamela J. Dews, industrial education, daughter of Robert Comer and Jean Comer, no hometown listed; and Lori Rebecca Bolt, exercise science, daughter of Larry and Frankie Bolt, Maryville.

 Engineering — Richard Scott Padgett, chemical engineering, son of Dick and Diane Padgett, Big Sandy, Tenn.; and James Walter Andrew, civil and environmental engineering, son of John F. Andrew, Bend, Ore.

 Human Ecology — Ronald Bruce Hamilton, industrial education, son of T.W. and Louise Hamilton, Lenior City; and Christina Tschan, nutrition, daughter of Karl and Waltround Tschan, Freiberg, Germany.

 Nursing — Mary Ellen Croft, daughter of Henry and Barbara Moses, Tellico Plains.

 There are no top graduates this semester from the colleges of social work, law and veterinary medicine.
