KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Sixteen University of Tennessee students will be recognized as Neyland Scholars at a luncheon Saturday and again in the afternoon during the Orange and White football game.

The luncheon, hosted by the East Tennessee Football Hall of Fame, begins at 11 a.m. in the Foundry at the World’s Fair site. The game begins at 3 p.m. in Neyland Stadium.

The Robert R. Neyland Scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate students. Four entering freshmen are selected annually to receive $3,500 each per year for four years.

The scholarship was established in 1963 in memory of the late Gen. Robert R. Neyland, legendary UT Vols football coach and athletics director.

Neyland Scholars must rank in the top 10 percent of the entering freshman class and show leadership potential. Robert R. Neyland Jr. will present the awards.
