CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Applications are now being accepted at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for a new master’s degree program in environmental studies.
The program, which begins in August, is the only one of its kind offered in Tennessee and one of only a dozen such programs offered nationwide.
“This program places UTC in a leadership role in environmental studies,” said Dr. Charles Nelson, head of the UTC department of biological and environmental sciences.
“It will help meet the national and regional needs of government and industry for professionals in the field of environmental sciences,” he said.
Dr. Deborah Arfken said the program will attract students concerned about important environmental issues, such as conservation and resource management.
Prospective students should have a bachelor’s degree, a grade point average of at least 2.75, four semesters of laboratory courses in at least two sciences, scores from the general Graduate Record Examination, and three letters of recommendation.
