KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee-Knoxville Evening School has been honored for the outstanding team efforts of its employees, UT officials announced Tuesday.
Chancellor Bill Snyder said the Evening School is the recipient of the university’s inaugural Employee Team Award, which was established to promote and acknowledge teamwork throughout campus.
Despite extensive reorganization in 1995, the Evening School continued to provide excellent service to students, Snyder said.
“The cooperation among Evening School employees illustrates how positive results can be achieved through team effort and exemplifies the spirit of teamwork at UT-Knoxville,” Snyder said.
Dr. John Muldowny, Evening School director said reorganization moved the Evening School from continuing education to academic affairs.
“The magnitude of these changes could have resulted in fragmentation and insecurity among staff,” Muldowny said. “However, our staff collectively planned and carried out organizational adjustments and addressed these changes in a thoughtful, decisive and positive manner. This award is a tribute to their unfailing efforts.”
The Evening School, now in its 50th year, provides programs for more than 3,000 evening students on campus and in 25 Tennessee counties, Muldowny said. It provides classes and handles transactions such as fee-paying for another 3,000 day students, he said.
