KNOXVILLE, Tenn.– A national award honoring Dr. Robert Kirk, University of Tennessee education professor, has been created by the National African American Fitness and Health Association.

The Bob Kirk Award for Excellence recognizes personal and professional contributions to improving fitness and health, particularly of African-Americans.

The first two awards were presented recently at the association’s national meeting in Atlanta. Recipients were Dr. Harrison Wilson, president of Norfolk State University in Virginia and Dr. Vivian Lewis, professor emeritus of Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio.

Kirk is a UT-Knoxville professor of health and safety.
