KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A rooftop viewing of the comet Hyakutake has been scheduled by the University of Tennessee-Knoxville physics department for 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Paul Lewis said the additional viewing atop the physics building will be held due to the possibility of Monday night weather which would limit the visibility.

“So we’re scheduling two viewings, believing Saturday night will be the chance for a good view of the comet,” Lewis said. “We’ll provide UT telescopes and binoculars.”

Lewis calls this a “once-in-a-lifetime” chance because Hyakutake “won’t be back for 10,000 years.”

Lewis will be available at 974-7815 for information about the Saturday night and Monday night viewings. The Monday night viewing begins at 9 p.m.
