UT Business Program Ranked

 

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee’s undergraduate business administration program is ranked 37th in U.S. News & World Report’s annual survey of colleges and universities.

The weekly news magazine’s guide, “America’s Best Colleges,” on newsstands Sept. 18, has UT-Knoxville tied with 10 other schools for the 37th place. The rankings are based on an opinion survey of deans and administrators.

This is the first year undergraduate business and engineering programs have been ranked. The University of California at Berkeley and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania tied for first.

There are more than 600 accredited undergraduate business programs in the nation, Dr. Warren Neel, UT’s business dean, said. He commended the faculty and alumni who support the college with their gifts.

“Undergraduate education remains the cornerstone of a land grant university,” Neel said. “Students who receive undergraduate business degrees at UT are highly sought by business.

“We are particularly pleased that the undergraduate program has achieved the national acclaim it so richly deserves.”

Business programs at UT-Knoxville have garnered much national attention in the last few years.

The graduate program in business was 37th overall and 17th best among publicly-assisted graduate business school in a U.S. News survey in March. Business Week recently put UT-Knoxville 13th for best overall executive education program, one of the top 10 in the nation for innovative programs and first in the “key area of quality.”

Last fall, UT-Knoxville was seventh in U.S. News’ list of the best buys in higher education.
