KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Cherokee Indians will be the subject of the first “Tuesday Topics” Sept. 12 at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
Dr. Gerald F. Schroedl, assistant professor of anthropology, will lead the discussion, set for 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Shiloh Room.
The talk is the first of seven Tuesday Topics, a public service program featuring College of Arts and Sciences faculty speakers.
Tennessee’s bicentennial anniversary is the theme for this year’s presentations, which (by date, topic and speaker) include:
* Oct. 10 — A political portrait of Tennessee, Dr. Bill Lyons, political science department head and professor.
* Nov. 14 — Tennessee presidents and the Jacksonian legacy, Dr. Wayne Cutler, research professor and director of the Tennessee Presidents Fund.
* Jan. 9 — The Civil War in Tennessee, Dr. Stephen V. Ash, assistant professor of history.
* Feb. 13 — Wildflowers in Tennessee, Dr. B. Eugene Wofford, herbarium director.
* March 12 — The three regions of Tennessee, their land and people, Dr. Sidney R. Jumper, professor, and Dr. Leonard W. Brinkman Jr., associate professor, both in geography.
* April 9 — Tennessee writers, Dr. Allison R. Ensor, English professor.
