KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dr. Harold Black, head of the department of finance at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, has been named to the board of directors of H.F. Ahmanson and Company.

The firm is the parent company of Home Savings of America, a savings institution with assets of $53 billion and offices in 11 states.

Black holds degrees from the University of Georgia and Ohio State. He has been chairman of the Nashville branch of the Federal Reserve Bank.
