KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Jeannie R. Hastings of Nashville became 1995-96 president of the UT National Alumni Association Board of Governors at its meeting here Friday.
Hastings, who is responsible for finance and marketing at Hastings Architecture Associates in Nashville, graduated cum laude in 1970 from UT-Knoxville with a bachelor’s degree in education.
She was the president-elect of the board in 1994-95 and the vice-president in 1993-94. She has served on the board’s executive committee since 1991.
Other board officers are Barbara W. Higgs, president-elect; Gary Doble, vice-president; Joseph A. Brasher, treasurer; and James Jackson, national chairman of annual giving.
Higgs, of Jackson, Tenn., is a retired high school English and speech teacher. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from UT-Knoxville in 1958. She is president of the Madison County chapter of the UTNAA and is a member of the executive committee.
Doble is a criminal investigator with the Internal Revenue Service in Nashville. He is past president of the Robertson County chapter of the UTNAA and serves on the board’s executive committee. He graduated from UT-Martin in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in business and later received a master’s degree in business administration.
Brasher, executive vice president of the Bank of Sharon (Tenn.), received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from UT-Knoxville and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from UT-Martin in 1973. He has been a member of the Board of Governors since 1992 and is president of the UTNAA’s Weakley County chapter.
Jackson, president of Jackson, Johnson and Murphey, P.C., in Chattanooga, received his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1969 from UT-Chattanooga. He had been a member of the Board of Governors for seven years.
Higgs, Doble and Brasher are first-time officers.
The UT National Alumni Association Board of Governors is the policy-making body of UTNAA and represents alumni of all UT campuses.
