The former prime minister of Poland, Jan Bielecki, 12 ambassadors from the United States and Europe and officials of Fortune 100 companies will participate in a U.S. Commerce Department-sponsored trade conference April 26-29 at the UT Conference Center, 600 Henley Street.

Issues, trends and opportunities for trade with Europe will be discussed in a series of seminars, workshops and lectures. This is the second year UT-Knoxville’s College of Business Administration and the commerce department’s International Trade Administration have sponsored the conference. Twenty-five senior commercial officers from U.S. Embassies in Europe will participate.

Bielecki will speak at a noon luncheon on Monday, April 27. On Tuesday, William Brock, former secretary of labor, will speak at 11:15 a.m. on improving quality through education, and top executives from Pizza Hut, Procter & Gamble and Coca Cola will discuss selling in ”the new Europe” at 1:45 p.m.

Wednesday’s schedule includes Sen. Howard Baker, honorary conference chairman, speaking at noon on U.S. commitment to new European markets.

A riverboat cruise is set for 6 p.m., Sunday, April 26, on the Star of Knoxville. Most participants will be available just prior to 6 p.m. for stand-up interviews, photos and videotape.
