NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A series of workshops for nurses on medical and surgical procedures will be offered this fall by the University of Tennessee’s Critical Care Program.

The day-long programs are designed for nurses specializing in the care of medical-surgical patients, Janice Smith, special programs coordinator of CCP, said. The workshops offer nurses an opportunity to combine current nursing information into bedside practice, Smith said.

Workshops scheduled for Nashville at the Tennessee State University downtown campus include:

* Physical assessment, Sept. 20.

* The nurse’s role in cardiopulmonary arrest, Oct. 25.

* Care of patients with coronary disease and congestive heart failure, Nov. 15.

A nurse’s guide to legal and ethical decision-making on Oct. 10 and legal aspects of health care on Oct. 11 will be held in Gatlinburg at the convention center.

Advance registration is recommended and can be made by calling UT’s Critical Care Program at 615-251-1214. The program is part of UT’s Center for Government Training.
